Organic & Non-GMO
Nigella sativa nicknamed black cumin, also called four spices, is a plant grown mainly for its seeds with miraculous virtues.
Produces flowers that reach up to 2 1/2 inches in width.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Sow Nigella in pot or outdoors in early spring. The seed of the flower can be lightly covered with soil. Each plant has a short flowering season, so it is best to have successive plantings every three weeks to have blooms throughout the season.
- Thin the seedlings to 6 inches between plants and the plants should begin to flower in three months. Deadheading will prolong flowering, but will remove the attractive seed pods that form later. The plant is a ready self seeder if you leave the seed pods behind. In temperate climates, this flower will bloom continuously.
USE
The swollen capsules are removed from the seed flowers once they are lined purple to air dry. The edible seeds are used in the Middle East in culinary dishes for the strawberry and pepper flavor, and as a medicinal plant.
